There were two network problems this week, one with the DHCP service which affected a few people on Wednesday and Thursday, and one with mail delivery which affected those who use mathserv for email. Both problems are resolved.
DHCP
The
DHCP service was down from early Wednesday afternoon until early Thursday afternoon. This problem only affected rebooted workstations or laptops brought onto the physcial or "math" wireless network after 12:00 pm on Wednesday.
Mail
Mail delivery to @math.mcmaster.ca addresses (excepting mail sent from mathserv to mathserv) was suspended between 2:00 am and 10:44 am on Friday due to a network name-resolution failure. Some people were unable to send mail duing that period. All mail which was undelivered during that period was delivered shortly after the failure was corrected.
