Student Absences

In the event of an absence for medical or other reasons, students should review and follow the procedure described at https://www.mcmaster.ca/msaf/. If you have any questions about the McMaster Student Absence Form or the above regulation, please contact your Associate Dean's office.
Note that this is the only way that relief can be granted for missed course work. See the course outline for an explanation of how the marking scheme will change for students who miss one component of the course.

ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT

Sadly there have been a number of cases of blatant plagiarism in this course, particularly on Assignment 3. Using solutions found on the internet or anywhere else to complete your assignments is academic misconduct and can have disastrous consequences on your future if you are caught, as a number of students were. The sanctions for this type of action can range from a 0 for the assignment, an F for the course with an academic misconduct notation on your permanent official transcript or even up to expulsion from the university with and academic misconduct notation. If you have such a notation on your transcript you are very unlikely to be able to go to graduate school and will find it difficult to get jobs as it marks you out as untrustworthy. This type of conduct is stupid and not worth the risk. I have a lot of experience with student plagiarism and can easily spot it. Consider this a final warning. The use of ANY external solutions is plagiarism and should it occur again, I will immediately report offenders to the Office for Academic Integrity for official investigation and sanction.

Here are some sources which you may use in your assignment solutions: External sources which are NOT allowed and constitute academic misconduct include: Once you put your name on an assignment, you are certifying it as your own work. If it contains work that is not yours and not properly identified as somebody else's work then you are committing plagiarism and academic misconduct and will be dealt with according to the McMaster Policy on Academic Integrity.
