General Information

Over the recent years, order statistics and other models involving ordered data have received much attention in the statistical community. Two prominent areas where order statistics and ordered data arise are reliability and survival analysis. Furthermore, their applicability is seen in a variety of statistical problems, ranging from inference to outlier detection to goodness-of-fit.

The primary aim of this event to enlighten the community, especially students and young researchers, on recent advances and open problems, and inspire collaborations. A supplementary motivation is the occasion of Professor Balakrishnan’s 60th birthday, a member of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and a Distinguished University Professor at McMaster University. He has made significant contributions to the area of ordered data analysis, and is likely one of the most prolific researchers in the area. It is thus only natural to want to acknowledge his impact in the area and commemorate the occasion.

There will be two parts to the event: a student workshop and a conference. The workshop will have two parts, each run by eminent statisticians and take place on August 7th, 2016. The conference which will take place from August 8th-10th 2016, will have three plenary speakers and several invited sessions and contributed sessions on a variety of topics.  Many of the invited speakers will be established statisticians from  around the world.

We welcome faculty, students and professionals alike to attend our event. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
