Questions

  1. The data in Old_Growth_Data came from an old-growth forest on Vancouver Island. Every tree was measured in a mountainside plot about 100 m square. The variables are: species (Cedar, Douglas Fir, Hemlock), the X, Y, Z coordinates of each tree (Z is elevation), diameter at breast height, total height, and height to the first branch. Explore the relationships between elevation, diameter, height, and height to first branch for each species. Look for differences in these variables between the three species.
  2. The file Three_Series gives three unrelated time series. Using graphical methods, determine the characteristics of each series.
