ABSTRACT

Fuzzy data mining and system modeling approach is suitable to most corporations such as Banks, ISPs, TELCOs, Pharmaceuticals, Process Industries, etc., that have databases, warehouses, marts, etc. Usually volumes of data are analyzed with various applications statistical tools provided by, say, SAS, SPSS, etc. However, these statistical tools are inherently based on classical two-valued set and logic theory. Novel approaches of fuzzy data mining and system modeling technology is based on fuzzy sets and logics. Most people are by now familiar with fuzzy control systems that have been applied successfully to electro-mechanical systems over last 20+ years in Japan and Europe.

In our experience, fuzzy data mining and system modeling approach have produced improvements over classical statistical approaches from 2% for credit worthiness in finance, to 14% - 65% for pharmacokinetics in pharmacology and to 70%-73% for tardiness and waste products in process industry.

This seminar will cover basic concepts and essential components of fuzzy data mining and system modeling with applications.
