R/C++ PROGRAMMER

I am seeking a qualified individual to do maintenance, debugging, and development work on lme4, a package written in R and C++ for fitting mixed models.

I can initially commit funding for 0.25 year full-time equivalent, e.g. 3 months of full-time work or 6 months of half-time. The position is located at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; I prefer a candidate who could attend weekly physical meetings in person, but would consider 100% remote/teleworking for exceptional candidates. The work could be done either as an hourly employee of McMaster University, or on a contract basis (details to be arranged). The contract could be extended depending on initial results and success in attracting additional external funding.

The ideal candidate will be:

There are also opportunities for student projects based at McMaster, or for graduate study or postdoctoral positions, but I'm primarily interested in someone (1) who can hit the ground running and (2) at least initially willing to work on maintenance and bug-fixing tasks that are neither computationally or statistically innovative.

The project is hosted on github.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. However, those legally able to work in Canada and at McMaster University will be given priority. McMaster University is strongly committed to employment equity within its community, and to recruiting a diverse faculty and staff. Accordingly, the University especially encourages applications from women, members of visible minorities, Aboriginal persons, members of sexual minorities and persons with disabilities.
