Coherent Vortex Extraction (CVE) (Release 0.9)

The CVE package allows for identification and extraction of coherent structures in 1D / 2D / 3D fields using a Discrete Wavelet Transform. Initially this package was a part of the SAINT-VENANT package, however, for the reasons of convenience it has now been separated form it. The CVE package is still far from being complete and well-tested; work is on-going to improve existing and add new features to this software. Time permitting, a new version will be posted somewhere in the near future. Please stay tuned! The package is the result of the work of the following group of people: Marie Farge, Alexandre Azzalini, Michele Caldoro, Gaele Perret (at LMD-ENS, Paris, France) and Bartosz Protas (at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada).

This is the first release of the package and we are aware that there may still be many imperfections, as certain elements of the package are incomplete, whereas other may have not been thoroughly tested. As time permits, we will work to expand the package and make it more reliable. We encourage people to use this code for research and / or study and look forward to receiving any comments, remarks, suggestions for improvement, etc.

The package will eventually consist of the following three parts:
  • Tarball containing all the source files and libraries required to build an executable,
  • Tarball containing sample test cases,
  • Documentation (as a matter of fact, CVE does not have its own documentation yet; limited information about this package is available in the documentation of the SAINT-VENANT package),
