Homework

Homework will be due at the beginning of every lecture, unless otherwise specified.

Final

The final exam will be held on Tuesday, April 29 from 5:45 pm to 7:45 pm in Wells Hall A-108. This exam will be accumulative, covering all of the material from the course. I will be holding additional office hours on Monday, April 28 from 5-7 pm.

Here is a set of review problems for the final exam, and here are some solutions. Note that Problem 22 had a typo (n should start at 12, not 11); thank you to those who pointed this out.

Midterm 2

The second midterm will be held on Thursday, April 3 during the recitation. It will cover Chapters 6, 8 and 9 from the textbook, except for Sections 6.3, 9.2, 9.7.

Here is a set of review problems for Midterm 2, and here are solutions. You do not need to hand this in. The homework problems, recitation material and lecture material are also good study devices.

Midterm 1

The first midterm will be held on Thursday, February 13 during the recitation. It will cover Chapters 1-4 from the textbook.

Here is a set of review problems for Midterm 1, and here are some solutions. You do not need to hand this in. A few corrections: Problem 10e should only ask you to compare the statements a-c (do not compare with (d)). In Problem 10f, when they say the 'original statement', they mean the statement 'for all real numbers a, b, c, P(a, b, c)'. Problem 16b: You should assume throughout that x is not zero. Problem 16c: You should assume throughout that x is not -1.
