Crack pattern in ceramics subject to thermal shock

NSERC Discovery grant

The results of the 2022 NSERC/CRSNG Discovery Grant competition have been published, and my project on variational phase-field models of fracture has been selected.

I am deeply grateful to the staff at McMaster’s Research Office for Administration & Development Support (ROAD) and in the Faculty of Science Office of the Associate Dean for Research & External Relations for their outstanding support. Navigating the intricacies of the Canadian funding system, cultural differences, amd linguistic nuances would have been a major challenge without them.

As side note, working on a budget, it was interesting to see how much farther grant money goes when university overhead are kept to a reasonable amount, summer salary is not needed, and out of control fringe benefits rates are not applied.

I am looking for motivated and qualified undergraduate assistant, and MS and PhD students.
