    Final Exam:

  • Time: 7:00 pm-9:30 pm, June 14, 2018. (You should arrive 10 minutes before 7:00 pm with your Mac ID .)
  • Location: DSB AB102 (Last names A-Q), DSB AB103 (Last names R-Z).
  • Sample Exam
  • Sample Exam Solutions (Typo in solutions of problems 2(a), 3, and 5 were corrected(updated on June 13))
  • The exam has 6 qeustions (with parts).
  • The exam will mainly focus on Chapter 16, except Green's Theorem. However, double integrals and triple integrals are needed when we evaluate surface integrals directly or by using Divergence Theorem. So you should also go over Chapter 15, especially sections 15.1-15.3, and sections 15.6-15.8.
  • To study, I suggest you look at the following:
  • You should remember the following basic formulas and theorems:
  • On Tuesday (May 12), we will make a brief reivew for materials we covered and do some examples. I will also hold my usual office hours on Tuesday and Thursday in this week.

  • Homework:

  • Homework 1 (due by 10:00 pm on May 10, 2018)
  • Homework 2 (due by 10:00 pm on May 17, 2018)
  • Homework 3 (due by 10:00 pm on May 24, 2018)
  • Homework 4 (typo in problem 3 corrected) (due by 10:00 pm on May 31, 2018)
  • Homework 5 (due by 10:00 pm on June 7, 2018)
  • Homework 1 Solutions
  • Homework 2 Solutions
  • Homework 3 Solutions (the answer of 1a and 5b were corrected)
  • Homework 4 Solutions
  • Homework 5 Solutions (the answer of problem 3 was corrected)

    Midterm Test 1:

  • Time: 7:00 pm-8:00 pm, May 15, 2018. (You should arrive 10 minutes before 7:00 pm with your Mac ID .)
  • Location: T13 room 123. All students will be in this room. For the position of the building, look at this map , the building is near the hospital and the main street.
  • In test 1, you will have 4 short answer problems (2 for double integrals, and 2 for triple integrals) to test materials in sections 15.1-15.8.
  • Examples we did in lectures and homework problems (both HW 1 and 2) are very good practice problems to prepare the test 1. Suggested problems are also good for practice.
  • You should remember some basic formulas in Chapter 15 (e.g. surface area formula, formulas for integrals in polar coordinates, spherical coordinates, cylinderical coordinates).
  • After the test, we will move back TSH B106 around 8:30 pm to continue our lecture.
  • Test 1 Solutions

    Midterm Test 2:

  • Time: 7:00 pm-8:00 pm, May 29, 2018. (You should arrive 10 minutes before 7:00 pm with your Mac ID .)
  • Location: T13 room 123. All students will be in this room. For the position of the building, look at this map , the building is near the hospital and the main street.
  • In test 2, you will have 4 short answer problems (1 for section 15.9, and 3 for sections 16.1-16.5) to test materials we covered after the test 1.
  • Examples we did in lectures, homework problems (including HW 4), and examples on the textbook are very good practice problems to prepare the test 2. Suggested problems are also good for practice. You should be able to do all problems on HW4 after the lecture on May 24.
  • You should remember some basic formulas and theorems in sections 15.9-16.5. (e.g. change of variables formula in multiple integrals, formulas to directly evaluate line integrals by using parametric equations of curves, the fundamental theorem for line integrals, Green's theorem, curl and divergence of vector fields).
  • No lecture on Tuesday after the test 2.
  • Test 2 Solutions
